Ambush Basketball is Growing!

Ambush Basketball Timeline

It's Been Quite the Journey. Thanks to Those Who Paved the Way!

An Idea is Born

2010 - After graduating from SDSU, Coach Callahan decided to do what he loves and stick with basketball. He thought he could create a program to give every child an opportunity to play basketball no matter economic or cultural background. Later that year, he formed Illinois Ambush Youth Basketball Academy with a couple of great coaches/friends and one team of local athletes who chose the name and logo for Ambush Basketball. Since then, the program continues to grow and be a positive environment for area youth.

Program Number Two

- Coach Callahan and his family relocated to Iowa when his wife, Beth, received a work promotion. There he found little opportunity for the area youth and thought he could duplicate the success of the Illinois Ambush. It took some time and great people, but the Iowa Ambush Youth Basketball Academy took off and continues to be a very competitive program in the state of Iowa.

Josh Mueller & Perfect Practice Sports Academy

 - Garrett and Josh have had a friendship for the past couple of years when they were introduced to Gary at Perfect Practice. That connection ultimately led to the events that are now taking place. Coach Callahan is still involved with the Illinois and Iowa Ambush Academies as the Director of Operations and Lead Trainer.

- See you on the court!
